The ZKTeco SA40B-E is a simple, standalone access control device that uses both RFID cards and a keypad for entry. Unlike more advanced biometric access systems, it does not require a computer or network connection for operation, making it ideal for small, single-door applications.

- Authentication methods: Supports three modes for entry verification:
- Card only: Entry with an RFID card.
- Password only: Entry with a 4-to-6-digit PIN code.
- Card and password: Entry requires both an RFID card and a PIN for higher security.
- User capacity: Stores credentials for up to 2,000 users, split between RFID cards and PIN codes.
- RFID type: Uses 125kHz EM cards for access. Some regional variations, like the SA40, also offer compatibility with 13.56MHz IC cards.
